Sustainability

Our work in Sustainability

YMCA has always regarded the concept of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) as the core element in promoting the sustainable development of the Association. With a strong sense of responsibility and foresight, we actively implement measures that address these principles. We recognise that in the face of multiple global challenges, such as climate change, demographic shifts, and social inequality, ESG is not only a crucial framework for enterprises to address these challenges, but also a key to enhancing competitiveness and achieving sustainable development. In July 2022, the World Alliance of YMCAs endorsed the “YMCA Vision 2030” at the 20th YMCA World Council in Denmark. This serves as a strategic blueprint for the collective development of YMCAs worldwide, aiming to empower communities and young people to build a just, sustainable, equitable and inclusive world. To achieve “YMCA Vision 2030”, YMCAs worldwide are committed to implementing the following four Pillars of Impact as the direction of associations’ strategic plans: “Community Wellbeing”, “Meaningful Work”, “Sustainable Planet” and“Just World”.

YMCA Vision 2030

The YMCA is implementing the "YMCA Vision 2030" proposed by the World Alliance of YMCAs (WAY)。 At the 20th World Council in July 2022, YMCAs across the globe voted to adopt YMCA 2030 - our first-ever shared strategy and plan. This includes four pillars, which are "Community Wellbeing", Meaningful Work", "Sustainable Planet" and "Just World". Vision 2030 serves as a roadmap for every YMCA’s strategic goals. Closely aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Vision 2030 empowers communities and young people worldwide to build a just, sustainable, equitable and inclusive world.
